Today, there are five International wrestling disciplines recognized worldwide which are: Greco-Roman wrestling, Free style wrestling, grappling, Beach wrestling and Sambo. These five are acknowledged by the International Federation of Associated Wrestling Styles.
Greco-Roman is an Olympic sport. In this type of wrestling, to hold the opponent below the belt is a big No to the rule. Likewise, the use of legs in execution of any action is not allowed.
Grappling is a wrestling style that plays an important role in the practice of mixed martial arts. It is also a self-defense technique.
Beach style wrestling is composed of two weight categories: light and heavy. This time the wrestlers wear swimsuit apart from the usual athletic shorts.
